Setup Notes

The following notes may help you configure your router. Some of the notes assume some previous knowledge. Please refer to supplied documentation for latest information.

(You should connect the router to your computer via either the usb cable or ethernet cable but not both, unless known otherwise.)

  • Quick guide to configuring via Ethernet - no software/drivers required.
Ensure the computer system has the latest service packs and updates installed and free from any other software/devices that may cause conflicts. Connect the power adaptor and the ADSL line to the router. Set the computer to automatically obtain an IP address and connect the computer to the router. Check that an IP address has been assigned by running 'ipconfig' at the dos/command prompt, note down the gateway address that you have been assigned (eg, 10.0.0.2 - this should match the IP address given in the manual for the router configuration pages). Open your web browser and with no proxies set, browse to the gateway/router addresss (eg, 10.0.0.2). Login with the username and password as given in the manual. Under the configuration section click on the link for WAN (or ADSL). On that page the VPI/VCI settings should be 0/38 for the UK. Further down the page under PPP settings the ADSL username and password should be entered which would be supplied by your ISP - it is very important that this is done carefully. (For most situations all the other settings can be left as default.) Settings should be submitted at the bottom of the page, and then saved. When saving, the new settings will be written to the router and then it will then reboot. After the router has been rebooted you should be able to browse the internet from the computer. If you cannot browse to the configuration pages again, and check the system log for more information. When correctly connected System log will present details of your WAN IP and DNS Servers and the ADSL light should not be flashing.
  • Quick guide to configuring via usb
Ensure the computer system has the latest service packs and updates installed, and is free from any other software/devices that may cause conflicts.
Before connecting the router to your computer insert the supplied CD and follow the links to install the usb driver. Reboot the machine and when in windows connect the router to the computer via the usb cable (ensuring the router is powered and the adsl cable plugged in). After connecting the usb cable windows will detect the new device and start installing drivers - follow any prompts that appear. This process will install a usb network adaptor on your computer. Correct installation can be checked by looking in Network Adaptors in Device Manager or looking Network and Dial up connections, you should find a USB Network Adaptor.
Now open Internet Explorer and browse to the address of the router - you can find this in your manual or by typing 'ipconfig' in a dos/command prompt and using the gateway address instead. You will then be presented with a login box where you need to enter the login and password information found in your manual.Under the configuration section click on the link for WAN (or ADSL).

  • Resolving Connection Issues
If using IE, ensure that under Tools > Internet Options > Configuration the button “Never dial a connection” is checked. Under “LAN settings” on the same page ensure that all the buttons are unchecked for proxy.

If Still unable to connect, log into the Router
Click on "Restore to Factory Defaults"
    Click Sumbit button
After Restore, you will have to re-enter your Username/Password in the WAN configuration section.
Please note, this will also restore the router default admin password as well.
Restoring the router will solve any DNS Error issues

  • Port Forwarding
This can be configured via the Virtual Server section. For example, to forward all data on the external port 80 to port 8080 of the local machine 10.0.0.10, the following should be entered

Public Port Private Port Port Type Host IP address
    80 8080 TCP 10.0.0.10
